Marcus Tran is an emerging editor and director working on Gadigal land.

Marcus’ most recent short film as editor, Sugar, premiered in competition at the 2026 Sydney Film Festival as part of the Dendy Awards for Australian Short Films. His television work includes assembly editing for The Role of a Lifetime (ABC), written by Penny Flanagan, and When The War Is Over (ABC) by Rachel Griffiths. He trained as an assistant to Oscar-winning editor Bob Murawski on Sam Raimi's 20th Century feature Send Help; his editorial and visual effects work also extends to studio features from Netflix and Legendary Entertainment, as well as commercials, and series for SBS and Paramount+.

As an emerging writer and director, Marcus creates short dramas, black comedies, and online essays. He has cultivated an online audience of over seventy thousand followers, and his short films include One Note Away, Wrong Love, and Bridges. Previously, he has written and shot short documentaries for SBS OnDemand, and directed independent commercials. His online essays have each garnered millions of views.
