Marcus Tran is an emerging writer, director and editor working on Gadigal land.

Since graduating from AFTRS in 2024, Marcus has gained editorial experience across studio feature film and television, learning from Oscar and Emmy award winning editors.

His credits include projects for Disney / 20th Century, in addition to scripted and unscripted television for SBS and the ABC. He serves on the Australian Screen Editors’ executive committee.

As an emerging writer and director, Marcus is currently developing short dramas and black comedies about queer and cross-cultural experiences. His AFTRS capstone short film One Note Away is entering festival distribution and his queer romance short Bridges is in further development as a feature film. Previously, he wrote and shot the short documentaries Lockdown Locals and Finding Home for SBS OnDemand, and directed commercials for DEJA VU.

He also has a strong online audience with video essays that have garnered him millions of views and over fifty thousand followers.
